Dear Drikung Kagyu friends and Drikung Kagyu translators,
I would like to make you aware of a program for Drikung Kagyu translators that is planned in this and future years in Dehradun in India. Please forward this to current and aspiring translators of the Drikung Kagyu lineage who might be interested:
From mid-September to mid-February Khenchen Nyima Gyaltsen will explain a text selection from Jigten Sumgön’s Kabum and the translators will create translations of these texts in their native language.
Interested translators need to be able to understand Tibetan. However, Khenchen Nyima Gyaltsen has a lot of experience in giving explanations to western students in simple Tibetan, and is very willing to answer our endless questions. Also additional instructions and workshops such as in the methods of translation and Sanskrit are planned.
Translators are responsible for their own expenses, such as the airfare, but the teachings, and room and board at the Songtsen library are provided at no cost, if a translation is completed.
This is an amazing opportunity to receive detailed instructions on the teachings of Jigten Sumgön, from Khenchen Nyima Gyaltsen, who is an excellent teacher and especially skilled in explaining these teachings to foreign students.
And it will be of great benefit to make these teachings available to the Drikung Kagyu students of many countries and languages.
The Drikung Kagyu Translator Program for the year 2014-2015, will be starting from September 15th 2014 to February 16th 2015, we would like to inform you to submit your names and confirmation letter for the translator program latest by June 25th 2014.
Please contact webmaster@drikung.de to get the email address where you can submit your application.
